How would Tim Keller talk to teens?

How would one of the leading communicators of Christianity talk to our teens?

Tim Keller believes that we need to convince people’s hearts before their heads.

This might seem counterintuitive to do, but Keller believed that the Bible and research show that as humans our ‘heads justify what our hearts want’.

This means that unless people’s hearts are first given compelling reasons to want something to be true, their minds won’t be open to believing any explanations that it is true.

These ideas are why Tim Keller would focus on presenting Christianity so that teens would wish it were true.

Above is an animated video clip where he achieves this by exploring how popular movies that teens love stir up desires that are ultimately satisfied in Jesus.

I’m confident this video will raise your faith and inspire your students to become open-minded about Christianity.

More of Keller on heart before head

Tim Keller believed in this idea so much that he even suggested some of his own most famous books like ‘The Reason for God’ would become irrelevant for secular people. Don’t believe me? Watch this 2 minute clip where he unpacks this.
