Think back to the last few sermons your pastor gave. What do you remember most?
For example, I remember my pastor sharing about his experience growing up when his younger brother would fake being hurt by him so that he would get in trouble with his parents. This was so unfair to my pastor and is something I could relate to. He used this to explain how we all want justice for the wrong things done to us.
It is likely that what you most remember from sermons are the stories your pastor shared about experiences that were relevant to you.
But what does this have in common with the blond haired billionaire who has the most attended music tour in global history, Taylor Swift?
I recently spent time with a friend who is a ‘Swiftie’ and grew up listening to Taylor Swift. I asked her why her and so many others love Taylor’s music. She responded that it is deeply relatable to the many relationship experiences she and others have had.
As I reflected on this, I was reminded how we as humans care the most and learn the best when we experience relatable stories that are used to teach, motivate and inspire.
This really is what makes your pastor’s story memorable and what makes Swift sell out grand final sized crowds 3 nights in a row in Melbourne.
